After releasing a metallic gold version in 2017, Nike and soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo brought the “Patchworkââ‚?concept to a red colorway of the Air Max 97 in 2018. The stitched upper was inspired by Ronaldo’s humble upbringing. As a child, his mother would have to patch together his sneakers because Ronaldo would wear a hole in them from playing so much soccer. The vibrant red hue on this Air Max 97 CR7 is a nod to the flag of Ronaldo's home country of Portugal.
